Day 4 - First Build Day

Our first build day started out with a flurry of activity. After a hearty breakfast we were ready to pile onto the bus to venture out to our work site which is located on in the Proyut village, in the Puok Province. After an interesting bus ride, we arrived at the village eager to get started on the building activity. We were told that our first job was to move three tonnes of rocks, which ranged in size from base balls to basketballs, across from the pile to the house  floor, about 15 metres. That job took the best part of 2 hours, this was followed by a similar activity involving sand. we then had to fill in the gaps with sand. After  a hard mornings work we were rewarded with fresh coconut straight from the tree with tops cut off and straws to drink out of, lunch was delivered in traditional khmer take away containers and was enjoyed by all.
Back to work after lunch to start the dry concrete mix which involved mixing sand and cement and spreading it out over the rocks and sand.
Knock off time at 4.00pm saw 10 tired, hot workers load back on the bus and back to our Paradise hotel for a swim and dinner followed by a trip to the night market.
