Cambodia here we come

Itinerary

Day 1: Saturday / Melbourne - Siem Reap

Today we will fly on Vietnam Airlines via Ho Chi Minh City into Siem Reap. On arrival we will be met and transferred to our hotel in Siem Reap City. (D.)

Day 2: Sunday / Siem Reap

This morning is free to relax or begin your discovery of Siem Reap, a cluster of old villages which originally developed around individual pagodas. In the afternoon we will meet our Habitat Host Co-ordinator who will be explaining our activities for the next few days. (B.D.)

Days 3-6 : Monday - Thursday - Habitat Build

A Welcome ceremony will be held soon after you arrive. Build days are packed with activity. The transportation will pick us up early in the morning. A safety orientation will be held onsite and tasks will be distributed daily. Build days will consist of working periods with constant breaks for lunch and morning and afternoon tea. Ensure that you drink plenty of water and take time out of the sun if need be. Please respect that jobs may not be constant at time, and may be conducted in a different manner than you would expect. When tasks are limited, take some time out to spend with our partner community. (B.L.D.)

Day 7: Friday / Siem Reap - Habitat Build

At the end of the week, a dedication or blessing will take place. This ceremony brings the team, community and homeowners together to say thank you and join together to celebrate the week’s hard work, experiences and new relationships formed. (B.L.D)

Day 8: Saturday / Siem Reap
After breakfast we will take a bike ride through the countryside to visit to the temples of Rolous. Travel the back roads through little seen villages where children greet you with excitement. See shadow puppets being made from leather. (B.D.)

Day 9: Sunday / Siem Reap
Explore the highlight temples of Angkor including Angkor Wat, Bayon, with its 54 towers decorat-ed with more than 200 enigmatic smiling faces, and Ta Prohm the jungle temple made famous in the Tomb Raider movie. Regain your energy enjoying a sumptuous Khmer feast in a local Khmer village surrounded by rice paddies (B.L.D.)

Day 10: Monday / Siem Reap - Ho Chi Minh City
After a leisurely breakfast we say a fond farewell to Siem Reap and take a lunchtime flight to Ho Chi Minh City formally known as Saigon. Time permitting, this afternoon we can ramble through the streets of Chinatown and bargain up a storm in some of the city’s most atmospheric markets. (B.)

Day 11: Tuesday / Ho Chi Minh

Today is a full day Mekong Adventure. Escape the city for the lush fields and countless canals of the Mekong Delta. Cruise through the waterways, call into an island studded with tropical gardens, try local fruit. Rich and fertile, this region is Vietnam's agricultural heartland and this full-day adventure is the perfect way to discover its lush interior. (B.L.)

Day 11: Tuesday / Ho Chi Minh

Today is a free day to relax or explore bustling Ho Chi Minh City, perhaps take a cycle tour to the markets and /or visit a local family to gain an insight into Vietnamese life - past and present. (B.D.)

Day 12: Wednesday / Ho Chi Minh

Today we have arranged a “hands on "Vietnamese cooking class where you will visit the markets to procure the local ingredients then learn to make traditional Vietnamese spring rolls (B.D.)

Day 13: Thursday / Ho Chi Minh

Today is a free day to catch your breath before we head home. Maybe wander back through the markets to pick up any last minute souvenirs or just laze by the pool for a day. (B.)

Day 14: Friday / Ho Chi Minh - Melbourne

Today we say goodbye to Vietnam. After breakfast and hotel check out, we will be transferred to Saigon Airport to board our homebound flight. (B.)

Day 19: Sunday / Arrive into Melbourne
